The Canterbury Bulldogs are back in the winners circle with a sheer gutsy performance that has put their faltering season back on track.
The Dogs missing no less than 7 first grade players through injury or Origin duty shot out of the blocks early in a near perfect start to the match leading 26 to 0 before the Canberra Raiders woke up and scored 3 quick tries to end the half and trail by a more respectable 10 points given the cirucmstances.
The Raiders held much of the advantage and momentum throughout the second half scoring the equaliser with minutes remaining but a Josh Reynolds clutch field goal iced the game for the deserving Dogs.
Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs player ratings round 11.
1. Sam Perrett -7
A much better showing from the custodian, bringing the ball back with more zest and linking well with his wingers. His only blemish was getting trounced by Blake Austin who scored a crucial try.
2. Corey Thompson -8
He is the poster boy for consistency, small in stature but the kid has a big heart and deceptively strong, once again showed finishing qualities in scoring a crucial 4 pointer.
3. Tim Lafai - 7
Good to see Lafai back in the starting lineup, his attack is his strength but he also aims up in defence highlighted by a bell ringer on a much bigger Josh Papalii
4. Curtis Rona - 8
The Dogs best all season had another solid game moving one in to centre and again scoring a meat pie.
5. Tyrone Phillips - 8
A really promising debut for Phillips, made some good incisive runs and defused a few sticky situations at the back.
6. Josh Reynolds -10
This is the way to answer the critics and Blues selectors with a 5 star performance, two tries, two assists and the match winning clutch field goal!
7. Moses Mbye -8
Great control, this kid is dynamite albeit the Jack of all Trades player for the Dogs.
8. Aiden Tolman - 8
His workrate to go with his big engine is incredible.
9. Michael Lichaa - 9
He made a couple of errors but his attacking game caused Raiders problems no end.
10. Sam Kasiano - 9
I thought his strong carries and second phase play overshadowed his work off the ball as he came up with some crucial tackles.
11. Frank Pritchard - 8
He was a menace on the edge with some strong carries and always threatened.
12 Tony Williams - 8
He is always a much better player when he plays direct, now needs to keep it consistent
13. Greg Eastwood - 9
He got through a ton of work in the middle and his effort on effort plays may have gone unnotticed but they were a big reason for the victory.
14. Tim Browne - 8
Very strong off the bench today
15. Antonio Kaufusi- 6
Made some strong carries before he got injured
16. Lloyd Perrett -7
Added some starch on defence and good carries on attack
17. Danny Fualalo -6
limited minutes but good involvement
